| Who can use Program Options |
| Program Options provides services
to adults with disabilities over the age of 18. To be eligible
to apply for services, you must be registered with the
Department of Human Services in the Loddon Mallee Region
in Victoria or with the Department of Ageing, Disability
and Homecare in NSW. Once you have completed your application
form,
you will meet with the Services or your relevant Program
Manager to discuss your support requirements and days you
wish to attend. |
Program Options provides services
to people eligible for Individualized Funding Packages,
ie. Futures for Young Adults, Support & Choice and
Compensable funding, under a Fee for Service arrangement.
People who are not eligible for any of the above packages
will be placed on the Vacancy Management System provided
by DHS. You will be placed on a waiting list until a vacancy
becomes available. During your time on the waiting list,
you may make an appointment at any time with your relevant
manager to learn more about our service. |

| In December and June each year,
you will receive a Course Outline Booklet outlining all
programs on offer for each Semester. Semesters run from
January – June and July – December each year.
You can choose which programs you wish to participate in
each semester. |

As of July 2007, all people
attending Program Options Day Services require a plan to
be completed every 12 months. Plans are individualized
plans to suit each individual’s needs. |

Links |
| Links is an exciting new style
of service delivery by Murray Human Services Inc which
embraces the State Disability Plan 2002-2012. |
Murray
Human Services set the following aims

• One Person – One Plan |

Links supports individuals to
take full control of their life direction and what they
want to do in their community / town. Links helps you get
a group of people together called a Circle of Support.
Links and your Circle of Support will then help you to
have a go at things that you want to do. |
They
maybe things like:

at a job. |

• Joining a new community
group |
| |
• Following your interests
in art and crafts |
| |
• Playing sport |
| |
• Accessing sporting events |
| |
• Going to the gym |

• Meeting with friends
for a coffee |

Volunteers
with LINKS
Links has volunteers to help you do some of these
things.
You will be introduced to volunteers who share the same interests as you and

House
MHS operates residential services
from a purpose built house in Haverfield St, Echuca. This
is a home for 6 people with disabilities where staff
provide support in a way which assists residents to live
as independently as possible. |
To be eligible
to receive residential services people require funding
via:

• Compensable Funding (eg. TAC, Supreme Court) www.tac.vic.gov.au |

Murray Human Services Inc offers daily transport via
buses for people who live out of town without access
to public transport:
Echuca District
Buses travel from, Rochester, Tongala,
Kyabram, Cohuna
Kyabram
Stanhope
Swan Hill District
Swan Hill, Kerang, Koondrook
A transport levy applies for travel on MHS buses. These
fees help to cover the costs of the driver, fuel and
maintenance for the buses as MHS does not receive any
funding for this. You may be eligible for a Mobility
Allowance which can be applied for from your local Centrelink
office. |
For more information on availability
of transport on any of our runs or fees and charges,
please contact the Services Manager or your relevant
Program Manager. |
| For people who live in town
and have access to public transport, MHS can assist you
to make the necessary arrangements with local bus services
or taxi companies. |

Murray Human Services Program
Options provides opportunities for people to access Assisted
Excursions throughout the year. Excursions include day
trips, large group holidays,
1:1 excursion opportunities,
conferences and other events. Participants can express
an interest in available excursions at their planning meetings
or any time throughout the year. Upcoming excursions are
advertised through the Program Options newsletter that
clients, parents, and carers receive on the first Tuesday
of every month. |

| Assisted Excursions are an optional
extra service to clients that additional fees apply. These
fees will be dependant on the type of excursion, length
of time and number of people attending. Murray Human Services
Inc staff support clients to apply for funding through
various Individual packages if eligible. Funding can applied
through Carer Support Services, Ageing Carer’s Initiative
and Support and Choice packages. |

| ABI Social Group (Echuca) Page

| Murray Human Services receives
funding to provide a weekend Social Group for people living
with an Acquired Brain Injury. |
| The group is open to any one
who has an ABI that lives within the Echuca area. The group
meets 1 Saturday per month for a social activity together.
All group members are involved in choosing the activities
undertaken each month and a semester schedule is available
of upcoming activities. |
| Activities provided to the group
include: |

• Outings to various surrounding towns |
| |
• Lunch at pubs, clubs and cafes |
| |
•
Jazz and other musical afternoons |
| |
• Fairs, events and other activities. |

| Murray Human Services provides
specialist services for Ageing clients |
Joint services, run in conjunction
with the Shire Of Campaspe Aged Services are held 2 days
per week from the Shire of Campaspe Senior Citizen’s
Centre in Landsborough St. These services include:
• Monday Planned Activity Group
• Thursday Senior Citizens |
| Programs specifically designed
for older persons requiring passive activities are available
four days per week. For more information on the Echuca
Aged Services, please contact your Services Manager or
Aged Care Coordinator. |

| Murray Human Services Inc in
conjunction with the Southern Loddon Mallee Regional Communication
Services provides a specialist Communication Support Service
to people with unmet communication needs. With the help
of a MHS Communication Coordinator, people
requiring communication support will have access communication
assessments and communication aids and resources. |
| Murray Human Services Inc understands
the importance of developing communication for people with
little or no speech. The Communication Service has a range
of programs and resources available for clients, families,
carers and staff to support people with their communication.
The service is available to assist people in developing
and using their own resources. |

Murray Human Services Inc has
communication coordinators located in both Echuca and Swan
Hill.
If further support is required, Murray Human Services Inc
can assist you to obtain a referral to the SLMR Communication
Service to be assessed by a Speech Pathologist.
MHS Communication Coordinators can also assist any one
wishing to apply for an electronic communication systems
through the Aids and Equipment Program. |
